Flexible assembly concept
ifp consulting developed a flexible, future-oriented and detailed assembly concept for a drive manufacturer. In the first project phase ifp consulting designed an assembly concept for a well-established and continuously growing manufacturer of door drives with a high variety in its product portfolio. Based on the assembly concept, a new production hall with an assembly line was planned in detailed.
Focal points during the concept phase
- Recording and analysis of the current assembly processes as well as supporting processes
- Analysis of all data relevant for the assembly process, e.g. product-based bill of materials, assembly instructions, production volumes, setup and lead times
- Examination of the infrastructural possibilities to realize the project
- Development of several block layout variants and submission of a substantiated recommendation
Typical questions during the detailed planning phase
- Which explicit product types are to be manufactured in which number and which production depth in the new production hall and which product types remain in the existing facilities.
- How is the material supplied?
- Which overall capacity results from the new setup with two assembly halls?
- How much personnel and equipment is required?
- How is the logistical link between the two halls and their respective assembly lines?
- How can future increases in the production volume be realized and how can the assembly be designed so that it meets future requirements?
- How can a flexibility regarding fluctuations in the production volume of individual product types be assured?
- What does the detailed assembly and hall layout look like?
